Cynthia's Circle Journal Pages

I finished the circle journal pages for my friend Cynthia last night. Her theme is Five Words to Describe Yourself. Like several of the other pages that I have done, the decision of what those words would be was harder than I expected. I had thought this journal project would be a test of my scrapping skills. I didn't expect it to turn out to be as thought provoking as it has been.
I had really wanted to use more of the Moravia paper for this layout, but I couldn't make it work and ended up using brown, sage and red cardstock and patterned cardstock from Basic Grey's Mellow collection. After I was done, I realized that the colors are all fall, and that I am truly into the season now. Cyn wanted pictures of the creator, so she got pictures; of me all the way from baby Lynette to adult Lynette of thirty years ago. Very Historical. Cyn knows what I look like, so I wasn't too concerned about a current picture.
I feel good about this page as I have felt good about most of the pages I have done recently. The best part is I get to give it to her in person when I go to Denton in two weeks.

A touch of glamour here

This is a photo of me in April 1959. I was twelve years old and this is my Easter outfit for the year. My mother made this and you will notice I wore a hat. No one does that anymore. I think the dress was pale blue, I really don't remember, but blue was my favorite color. We had been living in Wichita about a year at this time.

Equal Time for Andrea

I posted a couple of days ago about how I have to work for cute photos of Andrea. Composition wise this isn't a great photo, but she looks so cute. All these toys are why I am finally getting to do a little scrapping when she is awake. She plays very well for about fifteen to twenty minutes now. I grab whatever time I can. When she crawls over to my seat to be picked up, she means now and I better comply.

A scrapbook page about Wyatt

I just finished this page of Wyatt this afternoon. His mother had these photos done in July, the same time she had the pictures of Andrea on the layout below were taken. I used the SEI Moravia paper again on this layout. The difference from the other layouts using Moravia, is that this paper is flocked instead of foiled. Moravia is still my current most favorite paper. I think I will have at least one more layout to do and a couple of cards before I have to leave the line behind.

Andrea

Interesting baby pictures don't always just happen. Every now and then I start mentally chastising myself for not taking more pictures of Andrea. After all, she is here every day and I should be able to take any sort of adorable pictures. It is not so easy. First of all, the everyday stuff always seems to come first, then play. Then when I do decide to take pictures, Andrea is at the age where it is a bit more difficult. If I get down on the floor, she comes straight to me to play instead of continuing to do what I wanted to photograph. But I try.

Andrea is eight months old now. She crawls everywhere, but loves to walk around the furniture. She looks more and more like Wyatt. The two of them are going to be a force to be reckoned with when she gets a bit bigger. She will bother him now just to be a pest already. It is hard to stop her because Wyatt can be as much a pest doing things to her. They both adore each other now. I love to see them when they are behaving well with each other.

New Pages

I went to Toni's to scrap today and did these pages. Andrea's pages are using photos Nicole had done in July. Wyatt's pages are from April when he helped Ray wash the cars. More and more I am doing pages with bright colors. The colors certainly cheer me up.

Basic Grey Lemonade Cards

These are six of the twelve cards we will be making at Scrapbook Garden on the tenth of October. As always, these are bright cheery cards. They are not extremely difficult to make, but use a variety of embellishments that complement to paper to make nice cards. I am always happy to be able to teach these classes.

Wyatt's Faces

I finished this layout of Wyatt this afternoon. I found the paper a couple of weeks ago. It is called My Little Monsters by Daisy Bucket Designs. I knew I had to have it for a page about Wyatt the minute I saw it. It took me a while to decide how to use it, but by cutting both pages into strips and cutting out the monsters for embellishment, I was able to get the look I wanted. It makes me smile to look at it.

Happy Anniversary

I just want to wish Nick and Nicole a Happy Seventh Anniversary today. Congratulations and we love you.

Look at the time!

Look at the date up there. It is September first. Where did our summer go? I know that time goes faster when you get older, but this is ridiculous.
Looking back, I know that a lot happened. This was after all, the summer of Andrew's motorcycle accident. In a lot of respects I can say that two months vanished right there. I am so grateful that he was not hurt worse than he was. However, I now it is very hard for him to not be completely healed and back to normal. These things take time. He is still off work, which has to be boring too.
The top picture of the blue heron, I took yesterday at Riggs Park Pond while Andrea and I were out for a walk. I took a series of six photos, each one getting closer and closer. This was the closest it would let me get which was probably less than ten feet away. I was amazed how unconcerned the bird was.
The second picture is of Andrea exploring her world. She goes everywhere in the house. I had decided she would be a free range baby, no playpens for her. She delights in looking at everything. I learn about a new item that needs to be put out of reach every day. I am so blessed to be able to watch her for her parents.
The last photo is of Papa, Wyatt and the fireman. The Sedgwick County Fire Station near us uses our street to lay out their hose to check the condition once or twice a year. We came home the other afternoon and there they were. Ray took Wyatt over to meet the fireman and look at the truck. They got an invitation to visit the station soon.
Now that I have written this all down, I guess I have been doing more than I realized. A person never should take the day to day stuff for granted.
