Cards for June's Class

You know, I have aways said I don't like to stamp. This is an untruth because I stamp at least a part of all the cards I make. But I am not one to stamp a card in preference to solely using paper. These three cards are part of a set for a class I am teaching in June at Scrapbook Garden. They are fun and teach technique like masking that are fun to do. I love the little frog. I really like teaching the card classes, you learn a lot of paper crafting in a single class.

Boys will be Boys book

BoBunny creates great mini album kits. This one is called Boys Will Be Boys. How convenient for me that I have a boy available to take pictures of for the album. This class may be offered in June or possible July at Scrapbook Garden. I love this book. Too often Scrapping is girly with flowers and pastels. This one is all boy, and suits Wyatt to a T.

Just like a man

Ray was out washing the cars yesterday. Wyatt helped for a short time, but then decided cleaning his own jeep was more important. He took it very seriously. He has now reached the age where when I asked him to smile, I get a loud cheese and a cheesy smile. He is still cute as can be.

A Scrapbook Page

I did this page of Wyatt with his crown last night. For some reason I am totally pleased by this page. It is all card stock, but I embossed the images on the right side. The whole page was build around the idea of using the crown rub on on the lower right side. I was having trouble with the white space on the lower center until I did the ribbon ties above and below the crown. While I am all taken by the creative aspects of the page, I don't believe any of it detracts from the photo of my adorable grandson.

Now for something completely different

This is an advertisement for cloth diapers. My daughter makes these and they are not the diapers I used when she was an infant. The new style diaper is all in one with the waterproof fabric as part of the garment. I am now a user and to my surprise I really like them. The diapers use an additional soaker pad for more absorbency and once I got the hang of everything there is almost no leakage. I rinse them in the washer before I wash them in hot water without bleach. You don't use fabric softener because it will reduce the absorbency of the material.
I saw somewhere today that disposable diapers have about 15 years before they decompose in a landfill. These diapers are good for the environment and there is a market for used ones on the Mommy websites. Nicole is making them not only for Andrea, but for sale. You get fancy patterns and colors as well as the basic white.

More baby pictures

Here are some very un-Eastery pictures taken at Easter and then another picture of Andrea. I am working on trying to get more flattering photos of Andrea. I realized that there is a great deal of potential for looking up babies noses when you take their pictures. I am trying to correct that. The little boy in the picture with Andrea is her second cousin Clay. He is a month younger than but was three pounds heavier. He is just a big boy.
The last photo of Wyatt with his crown raises a question. Princesses are very popular with the little girl set, but there isn't anything for little boys who want to be princes and kings. Wyatt doesn't want super powers. He just wants to slay dragons.

Adorable Baby and My First Week of Retirement

I finally took some photos of Andrea yesterday. We spent the week together, and I finally to the point where I started to take pictures. She sticks her whole fist in her mouth and sucks away. I don't understand why she does not choke herself. She wasn't impressed with the flash either and it was hard to catch her smiling. I will try again next week.
After a week of retirement, I can announce that I will be able to make the adjustment to not going to work every day quite well. So far it seems like I just need to plan my days out to not waste too much time. I have also found that Andrea travels very well, and I can count on her sleeping whenever we go out in the car. As far as uninterrupted time, it appears I will have a window of forty-five minutes each morning when I will be allowed to do what I want. The rest of the time, I will be at the beck and call of the princess.

Janelle's Faerie Page

This is the page I have done for a circle journal we are doing on Scrapdawgs. Janelle's theme if Faeries. This is not an easy one for a person with only a passing knowledge of Faeries. I googled faeries until I found one that I could make a paper pieced faerie. While I was looking for that, I found the poem which I really liked.

Retirement

Here is a picture of Ray and me at my retirement party. Doesn't the poster in the back look colorful.

Denton, here I come

I am leaving this morning for my semi-annual pilgrimage to Denton Texas to scrap with friends. We have such a good time, there is never a dull moment. I guess that would depend on who you were talking too. We catch up on each others lives, scrap, eat, laugh a lot and scrap some more. I am so blessed to have found this group of women. They enrich already wonderful circle of women friends greatly.
