Talented People
I have a lot of talented friends in the blogosphere, both virtual an in real life. However, every now and then I venture out and look at the blogs of people I don't know. This has a real risk because looking at random blogs can land you on the tacky porno sites that won't let you go. However, finding blogs like Scrapateria is so much fun. Scrapateria was chosen as a blog of note and since it has the work scrap in it, I went to check it out. The blog is a group of collagers who all seem to have really great senses of humor. They aren't scrappers, but their work would be a good source of inspiration for a scrapper. Go check them out.

What's in your Wallet?

Tigger tagged me for a blog challenge. Here are the Rules.1. You have to post a picture of your handbag and everything in it, no cleaning it out.
2. Bag tag five other people.
Ray got me this Fossil Hobo bag for Christmas. I actually got to pick it out. I have always wanted a Coach Hobo but refuse to pay the price for one. Fossils are just less expensive enough to not feel guilty about Ray spending the money. The best part is that it is less than half the size of what I was carrying a year ago.
I was amazed at what I had in there.
Wallet, Cell Phone, Palm
Cough Drops ,Mending Kit ,Three Pens
Keys, Nail File, Comb, name tag
Hand Lotion ,Chap Stick ,Carmex Lip Ointment
Compact, Gum ,Cold Medicine
Business Card Holder , and My Purse Hanger give to me by my friend Cathy. (I love it)
I am tagging Joetta, Toni, Donna, Cynthia, Jeanne.

Coca Cola

I drink Coke and heaven only knows that I am a collector. But, I just don't understand the collectiblity of Coke stuff. I went to the Coke Store in Atlanta, you can dress yourself, eat off of, drink from write with and on thousands of Coke related items. I went in there to buy souvenirs and the best I could do was pencils. To a woman who shops this is heresy. We will not talk about how much money I spent at the Hard Rock Cafe. I guess everyone has their own passion and Coke stuff is not mine.
Home from Atlanta
I have been in Atlanta for the last week attending a Neighborworks Institute. I finished my certification as a Foreclosure Intervention Counselor. I had gone to Atlanta hoping for a warmer break from the cold weather we have been having here. However, that did not happen. The weather fell below freezing and it snowed. Snow there is not like snow here, it was gone by mid day. It was enough to close schools and remind me how unprepared the deep South is for weather like that.
My classes were useful and hopefully I will become more effective as a counselor as a result. I met a lot of people who are doing the same thing and got ideas from them. I don't really consider it networking, but I guess that is what it is.
I like visiting huge cities like Atlanta. There is so much going on, and you can do so much without a car. I didn't get to sight see as much as I would have liked because of the cold weather. But I did get to the Olympic Centennial Plaza. The city is all around the plaza with the World of Coca Cola and the Aquarium at one end and CNN headquarters at the other. I like living here in my little city much better though.

Happy Valentines Day to Us!

I am not going to be exact about this. I know Valentines Day was two days ago. This is the first opportunity I have had to post. Ray and I are gift exchangers. I have married friends who never give each other gifts. I have not figured out the dynamics of this. Are we too materialistic and they are more altruistic? Are they not romantic and we the epitome of romance and sharing? I could go on for a long time about the options, but it really doesn't matter.
Ray sent me this beautiful bouquet. I was the only one in my office to get flowers. You may picture ooohing and aaaahing there, but reality was compliments and that was it. We are not a jealous group of women. He told me he had requested spring flowers which are truly appreciated in the middle of this long cold winter. In my view, this was a really romantic gift, so it is perfect.
I made the card for Ray, I took the idea from the January Cardmaker Magazine. As I tell people, I can steal ideas from the best. I really like the way it turned out. manly and romantic. Ray likes handmade cards, so it was good as far as he was concerned. I also bought him a new suit, he wanted and needed one. They were on sale at Dillards, not romantic, but perfect anyway.
Coming up next are our birthdays. We are going on a cruise as the gift to each other. A week in the sun and on the sea. Perfect again.

Today's Page
I am doing a scrapbook for some friends who went to Alaska in September. I have been feeling guilty because I couldn't get started on it until after the new year. This is a very simple page, but the colors and shapes all seem to work with the brilliant colors of the animals Ron and Diane saw under the sea in Alaska.Wednesday, February 6, 2008
Who knows me best.
I am writing about the person who knows me best as part of a weekly posting challenge. This one was so easy. Ray knows me best. He would have to have been oblivious for the last 43 years to be not be that person. The idea that you look like each other the longer you are married doesn't hold true. However, in so many ways we have become alike. The most interesting similarity to me is the fact that we rarely fight, but are constantly negotiating the details of our life that we don't agree on. We also don't feel like rushing into most decisions. It is a joke that we talk about painting a room or buying furniture for five years before we actually do it. For us, this easygoing pace works. We are both satisfied and have reached decisions we are both happy with. It doesn't work for other people, but it does for us.
