Over the weekend, Wyatt was out in the back yard playing. I had clothes in the dryer and the warm air was blowing out of the vent. Wyatt noticed this and went over. He sat down, took his shoes and socks off and warmed his feet. It is so amazing the way he views the world. Everything is new and everything is there for his pleasure, even warm linty air.

Another weekend in Denton

The First Born's just completed another weekend in Denton. You would never know by the piles of stuff on the tables, but work was actually being done here. I had my personal best this trip. I completed twenty-seven pages. Debbie actually did over sixty, but she is very organized. The chance to get together with my friends every six months is so precious to me.

Back from Vacation

Well, we are back in the real world after five days in the Caribbean. We go on a cruise and never want to come back. The stops on this cruise were Progresso and Cozumel. We went to Chichen Itza at Progresso. The ruins are magnificent. I want to go back again and see some of the places we didn't to spend as much time looking at as I would have liked. At Cozumel, we did some power shopping for gifts for our family and spent the rest of the day on the beach which is what we like to do best when we are on Cozumel.

Easter 2008

Easter Day turned out to be a lot nicer than was originally predicted. The temperature managed to get into the 50's, so the egg hunt was chilly but bearable. We went out to my sisters house in Augusta. Every Easter she puts a huge amount of eggs and candy out in her back yard. The kids fill up there baskets til they are overflowing. This year, the little ones were not all that excited about picking up eggs. Wyatt would pick up an egg, open it and eat what was inside. He would walk past several to get to another egg that had captured his attention. All of the adults enjoyed this a lot. You have to remember it is for the children to have fun, not for them to do what we adults think they should. Sometimes we forget this.

We had Wyatt's picture taken at Portrait Innovations today. It is pretty nifty. They do pretty nice poses, and you get your package about half an hour later. However, Nicole and I made the mistake of setting the appointment for Sunday afternoon the week before Easter. It was packed and took an hour before we were able to get the pictures done.

Needless to say Wyatt was less than cooperative. There were shots of him running out of the frame, there was one picture where he looked like we were going to hurt him. However, because he is photogenic even when he isn't cooperative, we got one good shot. In the long run, that was all we needed. Isn't he cute?

We won't make the same scheduling mistake in the future. Any future photography will be scheduled during the weekdays when we know we will be able to get in with a minimum wait.

Nicole & Wyatt

Ray told me I hadn't taken any pictures of Wyatt recently. Nicole and Wyatt were playing the other day, and he was being kissed and hugged on when he really wanted to get into mischief.

We have lived here twenty eight years. We had been talking about redoing the kitchen for quite a while, but the cost of new cabinets was more than we wanted to spend. I finally came to the realization as well, that our solid wood cabinets were better quality than anything we could buy and that the cabinets were not out of date, they just needed to be refurbished. I started to look around for someone to refinish them, but I was told that refinishing was as expensive as refacing.

Then we went to the Home Show in February. I found a company call Kitchen Tune Up. For less than a thousand dollars, they came in and cleaned all the years of dirt, repaired loose spots, touched up scratches, and in their own words make the wood look like it did about six months after the house was built. I am extremely pleased with the results and would recommend the process to anyone who didn't want to replace or reface cabinets.

We also put in a new composite granite sink and faucet which we are very happy with too. To tell the truth I didn't realize how much better the kitchen looked until I looked at the photos. The sink is really nice, I almost feel like cooking again.
